Reminders – plain vanilla or chunky chocolate chip
A lot of people have asked us, "what's wrong with just flagging emails? I'm used to that." Nothing is really wrong with flagging e-mails, but there are plenty of reasons why Laytr might do a better job of reminding you than a flagged e-mail.
First off, we think it's quicker and easier to simply forward an e-mail, than it is to flag it for follow-up and and mark it with a proper date, but some of you flagging ninjas out there might disagree with that, and we have no issue with that.
However, when you flag an e-mail on your computer at work, then turn it off and go home, the flag stays on the computer, and doesn't remind you of anything until you turn your computer back on. With Laytr, however, your reminders will follow you everywhere you've got e-mail and with smartphones and iPads in every pocket and purse, that means everywhere.
Also, when you flag an e-mail, only you get the reminder. With Laytr you can decide to include as many people as you want in your reminders, and take yourself entirely out of it, if you wish.
But why did you have to flag the e-mail in the first? In many cases, it's not because it takes too long to deal with the e-mail, or that you're waiting for something else before you can deal with it, it's just that it's not the right, appropriate time to do anything with it. If so, Laytr lets you do all the work forward, reply, request or command immediately, and we'll take care of delivering it whenever you think is more appropriate. Suddenly the need for flagging is eliminated, and Laytr does the job for you at the right time.
So, while flagging an e-mail may be very helpful, in the way a wake-up call is helpful, Laytr is also helpful in the way a personal assistant may come in handy.
